Sorry I haven't updated this in a while...
Where to begin? So, first off, this weather has to stop. It's raining randomly all the time now. Today, it rained in Mount Laurel, poured in Medford and got nothing in Neptune. Yesterday, it poured in Neptune and barely touched Mount Laurel.
At any rate, so my editors finally gave me a legitimate news story to do. So Thursday night, I'm going to Spring Lake Heights to write about the travels of an Irish youth swim team that has been sending members every summer to Monmouth County for the past 25 years. Should be a good time all around, made even better by the fact that I don't have to be at work on Monday until 1 p.m. Sleeping in = a darn good thing.
Went to the Phils game with Lindsay Sat. night. After the rain ended, it turned out to be a darn good time. Bought my first legal beer, which is exciting, even if we had to share it because neither one of us was willing to pay $6 for a beer.
Saw Wedding Crashers Friday night...despite my general dislike of Owen Wilson, this is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. If you haven't gone yet, get out there and go.
I've also been doing a lot of work for Honors 100 and starting to think about Mitzpeh stuff, etc. I'm going down to College Park Aug. 10-13 to train Chanan on all the Mitzpeh software and work with him. If you're in CP and want to hang out, let me know. If you have a place for me to stay, even better...
I've also been trying to settle more of this "What do I want to do with my life?" business. I've narrowed the general spectrum down to: higher education administration, working in politics in some capacity, nonprofit management, nonprofit/governmental public relations, and journalism. So, my guess is that I'll be applying for jobs in all these types of fields this year, and we'll see where I go. Ultimately, I think I'll end up going after the higher ed. admin. for grad school, but I need to go work for a year or two before that's a consideration.
I also tried to reassess some of what I'm generally doing with myself. I came to the conclusion that I need to follow the age-old advice: "Good things come to those who wait." I've been waiting for a while, though, so could someone hook a brother of Israel up?
Not much else is going on here, really. Watched the president tonight. Shockingly enough, I'm not even going to make any nasty comments because I really don't know enough about John Roberts to bash the pick. My only concern is that he shares a name with the creepy girls' track coach from LHS.
Until we meet again, boys and girls...signing off...
